Explaining Courage in Ethical Decision-making by Nursing Managers: A Qualitative Content Analysis

Introduction: Ethical decision-making by nursing managers is influenced various essential factors, such as courage, without which it impossible to act on them. Objective: This study aimed explore the experiences of about courage in ethical decision-making. Materials and Methods: The current was conducted Iran a qualitative content analysis approach 2018. Nineteen nurse were selected purposefully from hospitals Tehran Shahrekord cities. Data collected using semi-structured, in-depth, face-to-face interviews, after transcription, they analyzed according Graneheim Lundman method. Results: Based data analysis, we extracted 2 categories (obligation, decisiveness) 8 subcategories (clearness expressing decisions, ability manager make decisions critical complex situations, authority/decision-making religious responsibility, follow decision process, being responsible, making compensatory preventive decisions). Conclusion: findings showed that who are committed have enough assertiveness decisions. Educating, empowering, sensitizing enhancing their insight into issues through problem-solving role-playing techniques can play an role promoting commitment responsibility.
